Cardinals, QB Jacoby Brissett reportedly agree to 1-year, $15.5 million restructured contract

The Arizona Cardinals and veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett have reportedly come to terms on a revised contract, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Brissett was set to play the 2026 season on the second year of a two-year deal that would have paid him $4.88 million in base salary.

This reworked deal will give him starting quarterback money. ESPN's Ian Rapoport reported that it is a one-year deal that is worth $15.5 million and can max out at $21 million with contract incentives.

Brissett joined the Cardinals ahead of the 2025 season as the backup to Kyler Murray. After the dual-threat quarterback went down with an injury in Week 5, Brissett was thrust into the starting role. The veteran ended up starting the final 12 Cardinals games of the season. While Arizona tallied only a 1-11 record, Brissett threw for 3,366 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Even though the specific game results weren't what the Cardinals faithful were looking for, Brissett brought a charge to the offense. It was enough for the Arizona front office to release Murray this offseason, eat $36.8 million in dead cap money and put its faith in Brissett for the near future.

The veteran QB has been in the league since 2016, when he was a third-round draft pick with the New England Patriots.

Brissett has played in 101 career games and has a 20-45 record as a starter. He has combined for 14,766 passing yards with 76 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.

Arizona is aware that its starting QB will turn 34 years old this December. The Cardinals drafted former Miami QB Carson Beck with the first pick in the third round in April.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that no new years were added to Brissett's deal, so the veteran will again be playing for a contract with Beck waiting in the wings.
