After weeks of tense play, the stage is finally set and the 2026 College World Series can begin. The year's tournament promises to be an exciting one, as last year's champion — LSU — is out. The same can be said for the nation's top-ranked team heading into regionals — UCLA — which suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of St. Mary's.
The 2026 field is mostly full of new names, few of which have won the College World Series all that recently. Aside from Ole Miss — which won in 2022 — the most recent championship from the other contenders came all the way back in 2005, when Texas took home the win.
