Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, despite plenty of rumors and trade talks to the contrary, are “really good.”
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was asked about his relationship with Brown on Wednesday, something that’s been in question in recent seasons. Hurts didn’t attend Brown’s wedding earlier this offseason, either.
“Nothing’s changed … We’re really good,” Hurts said, via ESPN’s Tim McManus. “I saw how beautiful the pictures came out at his wedding. I’m very happy for him and his wife and his family. It’s a beautiful thing to step into convenance and I was very excited and congratulatory towards that.”
Brown has been pretty open about his frustrations with his usage in recent seasons, including on social media. He recorded 1,003 yards last season, which marked his fourth straight over the 1,000-yard mark. That was, however, the second-lowest output of his career. His targets and receptions were right on pace with what he’s done in the first six seasons of his career, too.

Brown has not attended the Eagles’ team activities and workouts so far this offseason. A deal that sends Brown elsewhere in the league is widely expected this offseason, especially after June 1 due to salary cap restrictions. The New England Patriots are expected to be frontrunners to land Brown, too, though it’s unclear what such a trade may look like.
Brown and Hurts have been close for years, Hurts is even the godfather to Brown’s daughter. But a team source told ESPN that things “weren’t good” between the two in recent years.
The Eagles look ready for a post-Brown world. They signed both Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore this past offseason, and traded for Dontayvion Wicks. They selected Makai Lemon in the draft last month, too.

But for now, even with Brown’s future hanging over the Eagles, Hurts is trying not to think too hard on it.
"For us, we're only focused on learning the offense. It really doesn't change in terms of our approach to improve,” he said. “There's an 'if' — obviously it's been a lingering thing, but nothing can replace all of the greatness that we achieved together."
