An offseason of change continued Thursday when the Atlanta Falcons unveiled new uniforms, their latest redesign after last transforming their wardrobe ahead of the 2020 season.
Red is once again the team’s primary home color, just as it was throughout the 2010s and much of the 2000s.
"Red has always meant something different in Atlanta. It's when our best football has been played, where this city has shown its heart, and when I experienced the greatest moments of my career," said Matt Ryan, the Falcons' new president of football and old franchise quarterback, in a statement.
"When you put on red, you feel the history, the pride, and the energy that comes with being a Falcon. Bringing it back honors what's been built here and fueling what's coming next, which I'm very excited for our fans to see."
The Falcons’ red was also featured in their pre-1990 look, whereas in the ‘90s, early 2000s and then the first half of the 2020s, the team leaned into black as its go-to color.

The new home jerseys are paired with white pants. The pants, which also come in black as an option to go with the white road tops, feature pinstripes on either side that pay homage to the team’s original 1966 uniforms. That stripe is red and bordered by streaks of black and silver.
Speaking of silver, that’s the color of the face mask on the Falcons’ helmet, a slight alteration from the brushed nickel finish that previously covered the players’ grills.
The helmet mostly looks the same as the one the team has donned throughout this decade; however, if you look closely, you’ll detect newness.
The ATL logo on the front bumper now includes a Falcon wing attached to the “A.” Plus, the helmet numbers match the updated number set used on the jerseys.

The numbers are bold and legible. They’re also simpler than their last iteration, although they’re notably adorned with wing-tip accents.
This uniform redesign process began in 2024. The fruits of that creative labor are being borne by the Falcons in 2026, the same year they’ve introduced a new regime. Ryan headlines a revamped leadership structure. He oversees general manager Ian Cunningham and head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Atlanta is searching for its first playoff appearance since the 2017 season. The Falcons are bringing back red, the color they wore in their last Super Bowl. They’re hoping the success from the Ryan and Michael Vick eras comes back, too.

In fact, according to the team’s website, red has been in the jersey rotation for 13 of the franchise’s 17 winning seasons.
Falcons fans will be pleased to know, though, that the iconic throwback combination that couples a beloved red helmet and a timeless black jersey is still in the mix.
