Former Boston Celtics center and current ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins has no problem letting his opinions fly. It doesn’t matter if he’s on ESPN or at his son’s AAU game.
Perkins — who made waves after being ejected from an AAU game in 2023 — was at it again over the weekend, as video emerged in which the former NBA veteran needed to be held back during a heated confrontation.
TMZ, which obtained the footage, claimed Perkins became animated while defending his players after a chippy game. Perkins reportedly took issue with a “non-basketball play” on one of his players and decided to make his opinions known. Perkins reportedly took out his anger on the other team’s staff — not its players — per TMZ.

Security at the event reportedly helped resolve the matter. No criminal charges were filed.
Perkins addressed the issue on X on Wednesday, saying he would do it again. His full comment read:
“Damn right and it probably won’t be the last time! I’m going to protect every single kid in my organization like they’re my own.”
In addition to his role at ESPN, Perkins also coaches his son’s AAU team. Perkins’ son, Kenxton, has received high praise in Texas for his on-court skills. He’s part of the class of 2030, so it will be awhile before he’s fully following in his father’s footsteps.
