University of Michigan men’s basketball head coach Dusty May is reportedly not interested in pursuing any other college basketball opportunities, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel and Jeff Borzello.
May, 49, has been the coach of the Wolverines for the last two seasons leading the team to a 63–13 record overall and 33-7 in the Big Ten . After leading the team to a Big Ten tournament title and a Sweet 16, May has lead the Wolverines to a 36-3 and lead the Wolverines to the national championship for the first time since 2018.

Before May coached the Wolverines he was the head coach of Florida Atlantic for six seasons. May was 126-69 and 66–38 in conference play during his time at FAU. May’s hilight season at FAU was in 2023 where he was Conference USA’s Coach of the Year regular season and tournament champion and lead the Owls to their first ever Final Four appearance.
May reportedly had been an initial target of the University of North Carolina’s head coaching vacancy but it never materialized with the Wolverines still in the tournament.
Names continue to drop off the board for the Tar Heels as they continue their search to find a replacement for Hubert Davis, who the team parted ways with after the team got upset by VCU in the Round of 64. Arizona’s Thomas Lloyd, Alabama’s Nate Oats and Vanderbilt's Mark Byington have each agreed to extensions since the Tar Heels head coach opening.
