Michigan point guard Elliot Cadeau is “fine” after receiving medical attention for a possible allergic reaction on Wednesday, according to a statement from a university spokesman that was circulated by multiple outlets.
The incident occurred as the Wolverines were preparing to travel to Indianapolis for Saturday’s NCAA tournament national semifinal matchup with fellow top seed Arizona.

“Before the team departed the Player Development Center today, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate,” the Michigan spokesman said in the statement.
“The doctors evaluated Elliot, and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision and will be traveling to Indianapolis later today.”
Detroit radio station WWJ 950 posted a video on X showing someone being wheeled out of Michigan’s player development center on a gurney. That person, reportedly confirmed to be Cadeau, was loaded onto a Huron Valley Ambulance.
Cadeau, a North Carolina transfer who has started all 38 of Michigan’s games this season, has dealt with a handful of medical complications throughout his life.

He lives with asthma, and his mother, Michelle Cadeau, told Yahoo Sports on Sunday after the Final Four-bound Wolverines’ Elite Eight victory over Tennessee that he battled an upper-respiratory infection from November to February last year at UNC. She noted that, at the time, he occasionally needed to be given an IV before games.
Elliot Cadeau is also partially deaf in his right ear. Plus, as a freshman with the Tar Heels, he had surgery to address an eye condition called keratoconus, which causes the cornea to thin and bulge outward into a cone shape, leading to blurred vision.
Following Michigan’s blowout win over Tennessee, Michelle Cadeau told Yahoo Sports that her son was “back to being him” and “healthy” and “thriving” in Ann Arbor.

He’s coming off his fifth 10-plus-assist performance of the season. Cadeau’s averaging 10.2 points and 5.8 assists per game while shooting a career-high 37.7% from 3.
His status will now be monitored leading up to the Wolverines’ showdown with a similarly dominant Wildcats team.
