The Kansas City Chiefs traded up with the Cleveland Browns for the No. 6 pick in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday and selected LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane.
In return for the No. 6 pick, the Chiefs sent the No. 9 pick, the No. 74 pick (third round) and the No. 148 pick (fifth round) to the Browns in return.

The Chiefs selected Delane after trading All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in the offseason.
Delane played three seasons at Virginia Tech, then transferred to LSU as a senior. He was a unanimous first-team All-American with the Tigers as he tallied 11 passes defended, 2 interceptions and 45 total tackles. Delane is strong in run defense as well as in the pass game as an aggressive defender who goes after the ball.
“Really just the way I play the game, just the confidence they have in me,” Delane told ESPN of what the Chiefs told him before the draft. “They weren’t really on me too much in this process.
“But they said they wanted to keep it quiet and make that sneak move. And they made the best move in the draft.”

Delane joins a Chiefs team that finished 12th in the league in pass defense but has a big hole to fill with the departure of McDuffie. He’ll be expected to step in as a Day 1 starter as the Chiefs seek to return to Super Bowl contention after missing the playoffs in 2025.
