The next phase of the offseason has officially kicked off with players around the league reporting for NFL training camps. All 32 teams will report to training camp by July 28, and the news is already ramping up.
Monday offered several big headlines early, as news broke that Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was reportedly shot at the couple's home Sunday night, according to ESPN. Their son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, was arrested by police on three felony charges following the shooting. Eric has since stepped away from the team, as Mia remains hospitalized.

The Washington Commanders, meanwhile, parted ways with tight ends coach Ben Steele Monday morning. Steele had been on leave from the team following a June 7 arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Wes Welker, who works as an offensive assistant and personnel analyst with the Commanders, coached the position during minicamp during Steele's leave.
The 49ers are starting training camp without head coach Kyle Shanahan, who is still recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident earlier in July. The team said Shanahan has a concussion but he's expected to return to the team at some point in camp.
Elsewhere in the NFC West, the Arizona Cardinals reached a new one-year deal with QB Jacoby Brissett worth a reported $15.5 million, ending a minor contract dispute that lingered through the offseason.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that veteran running back Miles Sanders worked out for the Raiders on Monday.
Sanders was most recently with the Cowboys, but played in just four games before a knee injury ended his season. He had 20 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Sanders, 29, doesn’t seem like the same RB anymore who ran for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2022, but would likely be used sparingly in Las Vegas behind starting RB Ashton Jeanty.
The veteran back is reportedly fully recovered from the knee injury.

The Washington Commanders have dismissed tight ends coach Ben Steele, the team announced on Monday. A replacement is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
In the announcement, the Commanders said they would share no further information. But The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala reported that Steele was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on June 7 in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Additionally, Steele was charged with obstruction/resisting an officer without force for refusing to take a blood/breath test on the scene, according to court records (via ESPN's John Keim).
Steele was reportedly let go for violating team policy. Following the arrest, he was placed on leave and the Commanders reported Steele's arrest to the NFL.

Kevin Givens is sticking around San Francisco. The 49ers announced they’ve re-signed the 29-year-old defensive tackle to a one-year deal on Sunday, a day after general manager John Lynch revealed that the team had waived DT Evan Anderson.
Givens went undrafted in 2019 before catching on in the NFL with the Niners, with whom he’s spent his first seven seasons in the league.
The Penn State product has appeared in 70 games, making 14 starts along the way. Last season, he took the field for just five games, though.

New Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett spoke to reporters on Sunday and was asked about the competition for the starting running back position.
In doing so, he downplayed first-round pick's Jeremiyah Love's chances of winning the job while touting incumbent James Conner.
"I mean, he's definitely a rookie," Hackett said of Love, who was selected No. 3 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Hackett seemed more enthusiastic about watching Conner, who played in only three games before suffering a foot injury that required season-ending surgery. He finished with 95 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries.

“He’s got to meet certain markers,” Lynch said, via ESPN. “But I think the expectation is that long before that he’ll be better.”
