Sonny Dykes has a new deal to remain as TCU head football coach, the school announced on Friday.

No terms have been announced.

"Competing for national and Big 12 championships requires the right leadership, and Sonny has proven he's that person," TCU athletic director Mike Buddie said in a statement. "His track record on the field, his standing in the community, and the decisions he's made to position this program to pursue those goals speak for themselves."

Buddie said in February that an extension was being worked on and that a deal was close to being finalized. Dykes' previous contract was to expire following the 2028 season. He earned a little over $7 million in salary this past season.

Dykes was hired by TCU in 2022 after five seasons at SMU. He led the Horned Frogs to a 13-2 record and a national title game appearance in his first season. TCU has finished 9-4 in each of the past two seasons and picked up wins in the New Mexico Bowl and Alamo Bowl.
