Sonny Dykes has a new deal to remain as TCU head football coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

TCU athletic director Mike Buddie said in February that an extension was being worked on and that a deal was close. Dykes' contract was to expire following the 2028 season. He earned a little over $7 million in salary this past season.

Details about Dykes’ extension have yet to be officially announced.

Dykes was hired by TCU in 2022 after five seasons at SMU. He led the Horned Frogs to a 13-2 record and a national title game appearance in his first season. TCU has finished with 9-4 in each of the past two seasons and picked up wins in the New Mexico Bowl and Alamo Bowl.

TCU’s 36 wins since 2022 is most among any Big 12 program since Dykes was hired.
